Hilton Honors discontinued the very popular MVP Rate Plan for stays in the Americas but appears to have left the MVP Gold-status fast track intact.
Members that sign up for this offer now and complete it in 2021 will have the status through early 2023 per the T&Cs.

Note that both paid and award nights count towards the four-stay requirement (as long as they are “normal” qualifying stays per the Hilton Honors T&Cs).

Honors members can earn or renew their stays in 2021 with half the number of stays, nights, or spend.

You don’t officially get executive lounge access with Gold status but it does happen occasionally at international properties (outside of the busiest cities).
Hilton Honors Gold status is valuable because it comes with a complimentary breakfast with all brands (some brands have it for all guests) and space available upgrades.
Conclusion
It was very unfortunate when Hilton discontinued the MVP Rate Plan that was flat 20% off and had been around for more than a decade. I am glad, however, that there is still this Gold-fast track offer around.
It is good to start with Honors Gold that grants you breakfast while advancing towards the Diamond status that comes with better upgrades and executive lounge access, where available.
