A few days ago I wrote about GoAir’s plans to start flying internationally from October 2018.And today, the airline’s CEO, Cornelis Vrieswijk formally made an announcement for the maiden GoAir international routes. We knew that the carrier will connect Mumbai to Phuket and Male, the airline has announced that they are going to fly out of Delhi to these destinations as well.
Starting October 11, the airline is going to fly three times a week between Mumbai and Phuket and two times a week between Delhi and Phuket. And if you want to fly with them to Male, you can choose between their thrice a week service from Mumbai and twice a week service from Delhi which starts from October 14.
The inaugural fare starts at INR 18,999 for the BOM-HKT-BOM as well as the DEL-HKT-DEL route while it would cost you INR 17,999 on the BOM-MLE-BOM route and INR 18999 on the DEL-MLE-DEL route. To get a fair idea about how competitively the tickets are priced, especially on the flights to Phuket, I’m waiting for Vistara to announce their flights before I book my tickets for a quick getaway later in the year.
The schedule on these routes is as follows:
G831 DEL0110 – 0725HKT A320 47
G832 HKT0830 – 1155DEL A320 36
G821 BOM0125 – 0725HKT A320 136
G822 HKT0830 – 1200BOM A320 257
G833 DEL1245 – 1620MLE A320 36
G834 MLE1720 – 2210DEL A320 36
G823 BOM1330 – 1550MLE A320 257
G824 MLE1650 – 2000BOM A320 257
I tried looking for tickets on their website soon after the announcement, but could not find any. I guess their IT systems are in the process of getting updated with these new routes and we can expect bookings to open soon.
Apart from Mumbai and Delhi, we also know that GoAir is keen on flying out of Bengaluru as well. Though no dates or routes were announced, you can expect flying out of Bengaluru in the future too. The airline plans to increase frequency once they gauge passenger demand on these first few flights.
After being in business for thirteen years, GoAir finally to chase their global ambitions. While they might not be the largest no-frills airline in the country, they have a shot at becoming the preferred no-frills carrier for Indians travelling abroad.
Do you plan on flying GoAir for your next beach vacation to Male or Phuket?
